Evolutionary Activism

Discussion Actions

As the emerging evolutionary worldview begins to transform every dimension of human society, we are witnessing the rise of new forms of activism and a new breed of activists and change-makers.

What is evolutionary activism? What does an evolutionary activist and change-agent look like? How can we build a movement for the conscious evolution of our social systems?

One more post before heading out on vacation. The thought I have regarding evolutionary activism is that it can make issues more clear.

If for example a group of environmentalists is criticizing a large corporation- wanting them to reduce pollution or pursue fair trade practices- then the corporation may react by only thinking about the short term effect of narrowing profit margins. I think the language of alignment can help in cases like these- get people thinking about aligning their self-interests with larger interests.

TGFE pg. 255: “Thus nothing is more important, it seems to me, from a practical as well as spiritual perspective, than co-creating synergistic systems of governance at all levels- locally, regionally, nationally, and globally- that align the self-interest of individuals and groups with the self-interest of our planet as a whole. “

evolutionary activism is open to the whole spectrum of possibilities when looking for the solutions to a problem. the difference of evolutionary activism from previous forms is a shift from caring via subjective self-motivated concerns, to a deep understanding and altruistic concern for the greater interdependence of which we are all apart. an EvoActivist takes into account not only the individual, collective and social implications of whatever injustice is being caused, but also their own actions in trying to stop and prevent those injustices from continuing. they hold themselves personally responsible and accountable for any injustice that they themselves cause in an effort to prevent another injustice, and are therefor able to view the situation from a much wider scope that enables them to act in ways beneficial for everyone involved.
